There is Nothing Like State Pride at a Concert

My observation of the weekend.  Brought on again by the Brad Paisley/Dierks Bentley concert.

Have you ever noticed that no matter where you are, the people who live there don't think there is anything special about their state?  The kids growing up all strive to get as far away from their state as humanly possible the day after they graduate from high school.

It doesn't always turn out that way.  In fact, most people seem to stay pretty close to the area they grew up.  Some are happy with it.  Some are bitter about it.  Everyone I know makes degrading comments about their home state.....That is until they go to a concert.

The crowd is always brought to their feet as soon as that headlining performer comes out and greets [insert city/utah name here].  (Something to the effect of 'How are you doing tonight, Utah?' Everyone screams and applauds their city or state.  Even those who are otherwise unhappy with their state are extremely excited by the mere mention of their current location while at a musical....
